A new study suggests that a diet high in animal protein may increase the risk of fatty liver disease, especially for people who are elderly and overweight. The new study, which has not yet been published in a peer-reviewed journal, was recently presented at the International Liver Congress in Amsterdam. It analyzed the health and dietary records of more than 3,400 people living in the Netherlands, 70% of whom were classified as overweight by their body mass index (BMI).

A new study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that married patients recovered better after heart surgery than single or divorced patients. After studying 1,576 adults over age 50 who had serious cardiac surgery, the researchers found that unmarried patients had a 40% greater chance of dying or developing complications two years after the surgery.
