Biography: Jerome Kern was an American composer best known for his work in musical theatre, in which he was one of the most important composers of the early 20th century. During this period he wrote over 700 songs which featured in more than 100 stage shows.

Kern collaborated with a number of other important names, in particular lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II, with whom he wrote songs for the plays Show Boat (1927) and Music in the Air (1932).
